On February 29, 2007 the Virgina Supreme Court ruled that the code granting authority to the NVTA to collect taxes was unconstitutional. All NVTA transportation taxes collected after January 1, 2008 is being returned to the individual tax payers. Traffic is still a major problem in Nothern Virginia. Currently the General Assembly is considering the issue and the ramifications of the ruling. If you wish to support the NVTA's efforts to reestablish funding for transportation projects please see our Piece of My Commute page for more information.
