<h2>Senate Bill 576 (2002)</h2>

The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority was created by the Virginia General Assembly on July 1, 2002, to offer a common voice for Northern Virginia on the transportation issues and options that confront us. The Authority is charged with developing a regional transportation plan, working with Northern Virginia’s communities to develop regional priorities and policies to improve air quality, and serving as an advocate for the transportation needs of Northern Virginia before the state and federal governments.

SB 576 Summary & Full Bill – as passed in 2002.

HB 190 Summary & Full Bill – passed in 2016 changing the population criterion required for decisions of the Authority from projections to estimates made by the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service.
